Louisiana press reports that Baton Rouge has confirmed an 87-year-old woman has died from listeria, possibly linked to cantaloupe.
Elaine Babcock died Saturday at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Her son told WAFB she was in poor health and confirmed she ate cantaloupe two weeks ago.

When 73-year-old Cheryle Ferda of Blackwell, Okla., became deathly ill after eating a listeria-tainted melon she thought she had a bad case of the flu.
Ferda is a nurse and she knew that she was in rough shape when she was hospitalized on Sept. 5, delirious with a fever that topped 105 degrees.

According to the FDA, cantaloupes were shipped to at least 25 states: Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri
