Wyoming state health officials are investigating whether the death last week of a Sheridan County woman is related to contaminated cantaloupes from Colorado.

Wyoming Department of Health spokeswoman Kim Deti says Monday the woman died from exposure to listeria, a type of bacteria. Deti declined to say where the person lived in the county or what day she died.

Deti says two other nonfatal cases of listeriosis in Laramie County have been tied to the cantaloupes. Symptoms of infection include fever, muscle aches, diarrhea, headache, stiff neck, confusion and convulsions.
