400_cp24_recall_110220.jpgThe public is being warned not to eat certain batches of Rose Haus Cave Aged Washed Rind Cheese because it may be contaminated with Listeria bacteria.

The cheese affected is sold in 200 gram packages with Lot Code 400411. All best before dates are affected.

The product, made by Pickton-based Fifth Town Artisan Cheese Co., has been distributed in Ontario.

There have been no reported illnesses so far.

Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but may cause listeriosis. The food borne illness can cause high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is monitoring the recall.
