St James Smokehouse has announced a recall of Scotch Reserve Whiskey & Honey Smoked Salmon 4oz retail packs due to possible Listeria monocytogenes. These packs were sold at The Fresh Market stores in 20 states, including Illinois, Wisconsin, and Indiana.
Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Listeria infection can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women. Healthy children and adults generally only suffer short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headaches, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.
Packages subject to the recall have Lot code: 5797 & batch code: 4759 and UPC# 853729001151 located on a white label on the back.
