Kellogg's Buttermilk Eggo Waffles Made In Atlanta Are Being Recalled
The Georgia Department of Agriculture (GDA) has found Listeria monocytogenes in a test sample of Kellogg’s Buttermilk Eggo Waffles manufactured at an Atlanta plant.
The positive sample part of a routine inspection by GDA of the Kellogg’s plant at 5601 Bucknell Dr. SW, Atlanta. This product was not shipped into the marketplace and Kellogg has agreed to recall the product.
The recalled product is:
- Kellogg’s® Eggo® Cinnamon Toast waffles, 10-count package, UPC code 3800040440 with “Best If Used Before” dates beginning with: NOV22 10 EA, NOV23 10 EA and NOV24 10 EA. Kellogg’s® Eggo® Toaster Swirlz™ Cinnamon Roll Minis eight-count package, UPC code 3800023370 with a “Best If Used Before” date beginning with beginning with NOV15 10 EA.
Production was ceased at the plant and an investigation is underway to determine a possible cause of contamination and began a regimen of cleaning and sanitizing. Kellogg will execute its hygienic restoration plan under GDA before it resumes production at the plant.
Consumption of food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, an uncommon but potentially serious disease. Symptoms include high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea. Listeriosis can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths, as well as serious and sometimes fatal infections to infants, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems such as persons with chronic diseases or taking chemotherapy for cancer.

you cant even trust kellogg products anymore, in this day & time when technology should rein supreme & we as a people should be able to rejoice in a better world, its seems to be regressing to cave a man era.

I was unaware of the recall. My son ate a Buttermilk waffle this morning and milk. Within minutes he was vomitting and then broke out in an all over body rash with difficulty breathing. We headed for the ER and were told it was somehting he ate for breakfast that he must have been allergic to. He's eaten Buttermilk waffles before from Kelloggs and drinks milk everyday. It baffled me until I googled eggo waffles and found the recall.
Why didn't they recall Buttermilk if that is the sample where the GDA found the listeria?
Be careful - our situation could have been really dangerous had I not acted quickly.

We recently had the same issue, my husband ate buttermilk waffles two days ago for breakfast, and headed off to work. about 2 hours later he was calling me severely throwing up. we rushed to the hospital it as well was told to us, that it "was something he ate" he has been out of work for 3 days now. then again he did manage to eat 5 waffles that morning. My question is the same, if they found it in butter milk why not recall the whole batch, this is ridiculous ..law suit may be in order...

Lisa and Lauren ... I would love to talk to you about what happened. Were you able to confirm they were waffles part of the recall? If you think you were a victim of this recall please call me 212.456.1485. I am working on a story about it. Thanks.

To the two people who reported sickness after eating waffles, do you know what the "Best if used by" date was on those boxes? I'm trying to figure out which part of the code represents which plant the waffles were made at. Thanks.
